A husband shot his wife at their house on Shady Glade Road in Winterville on Oct. 4, according to the Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office.
There were no witnesses to the incident, which happened at approximately 5 a.m.
“We’d prefer not (to divulge) names right this minute because of the medical issues involved,” Capt. Mike Tyndell said
.
The wife is being treated in the hospital, but she’s not in critical condition, Tyndell said. The husband’s mental health is being evaluated.
The situation is under investigation.
“Initially, it was believed to be an accidental shooting,” Tyndell said. “But there are some conflicts with that that we’re investigating.”
