An Oglethorpe County High School teacher remains on administrative leave and out of the classroom, Superintendent Beverley Levine confirmed in an email on Tuesday.

The teacher was placed on leave last month when the school system began an investigation into a social media post after Charlie Kirk’s death on Sept. 10.

The post on X, formerly known as Twitter, was made on Sept. 12, according to screenshots shared on Facebook, two days after Kirk was shot and killed while speaking to a gathering at Utah Valley University.

On Sunday, Levine notified parents that another teacher would take over those classes this week.

At the Oglethorpe County Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, a resident read a prepared statement asking that the teacher on administrative leave be fired.
