Fit Evolution Training offers classes at the Lexington location (718 Athens Road) and the Hull location (8889 U.S. Highway 29).
Full-time personal trainer Jeff Roberts is using his own health journey to change the lives of others.
After losing 130 pounds in just over a year with the help of Cronic Fitness owner Josh Cronic, Roberts reversed roles and opened his own personal training business — Fit Evolution Training — in January 2025.
“Through my journey, I realized how much I enjoyed it,” Roberts said. “Then it became a passion of mine to help others reach their goals.”
Now, Roberts' program runs through two of the Cronic Fitness gym locations in Lexington and Hull, where he uses what he learned from Cronic in his own practice.
Roberts was inspired to start his business after undergoing numerous back surgeries dating to 2020, leading to significant weight gain, eventually reaching 311 pounds.
His personal journey mirrors the challenges many of his clients face, creating a unique training environment.
“When I meet people for the first time, I share my story to let them have a positive side to see that it's possible to change,” Roberts said. “There’s consistency, determination, dedication. You’ve just got to make your mind up to make that change, and then once you do, it’s just a process.”
Fit Evolution Training offers a variety of personal training sessions built around the clients schedule, goals and experience, ranging from strength training and toning to weight loss and nutritional coaching.
Brooke DesRosier, who lives in Madison County, is one of nearly 20 clients who have found Fit Evolution to be the perfect way to meet their goals.
DesRosier had already begun her weight loss journey, but was looking to tone her body, so Roberts created a training program to match her needs.
“I went in with over 100-pound weight loss with more to lose, but I needed to tone,” DesRosier said. “So, we talked about my problem areas and what my focus is and I lost more and toned more.”
Roberts said motivation is the No. 1 factor for most clients, so he prioritizes making his clients feel supported, even outside of the gym.
“It was the little things, like a text to drink my water and eat my protein,” DesRosier said. “If I posted a journey update on Facebook, he was always the first to hop in the comments and say, ‘You are doing awesome, keep it up.’”
One session costs $45, but Roberts also offers a popular bundle, which saves $50 and guarantees 10 sessions. Roberts also offers a “New Year Special” which consists of a free consultation and a free training session.
“If you’re coming in, regardless of what you want to do, my goal is to help you get healthy so that you have a longer, healthier life,” Roberts said.
