Prep roundup: Cross country has strong showing at East Jackson

    The Oglethorpe County boys cross country team finished 10th out of 21 teams at the North Georgia Championships at East Jackson on Saturday.

     

    The Patriots finished behind Prince Avenue Christian School among other Class AA teams.

     

    John Adams had a time of 18:09.51 to finish ninth. Rex Allen (19:16.84) was 24th and Julian George (19:28.01) was 30th.

     

    Bessie Musimbi was the girls’ top finisher with a time of 27:31.17.

     

    The cross country teams will be at North Oconee on Sept. 12.

     

    OCMS results

     

    The Oglethorpe County Middle School football team defeated Banks County 30-8 on Aug. 26.

     

    The OCMS volleyball Team B defeated Russell 25-10 and 25-17 on Aug. 26. Team A lost.

     

    Team A defeated Banks County 25-14, 21-25 and 15-8 on Aug. 31. Team B lost 17-25 and won 25-23.

     

    The OCMS softball team lost at West Jackson on Aug. 26.
