Oglethorpe County commissioners pass lower tax rate for residents

The Oglethorpe County Board of Commissioners decreased the millage rate for the fourth consecutive year Friday morning. The board approved an incorporated millage rate of 20.355 mills and an unincorporated rate of 20.211 mills at the called meeting.

The sales tax rate in Oglethorpe County is 8%, with half going toward various local option sales taxes. If FLOST passes Nov. 4, the county's sales tax rate will rise to 9%. (Kimberly Thomas/The Oglethorpe Echo)
