Four voices of service

Four Oglethorpe County veterans from different generations and branches said their pride didn’t end with their service. It evolved.

Those Who Served: Honoring the veterans of Oglethorpe County

The flash of an explosion blinded William Jackson in the engine room of the USS Glacier.    Jackson, a fireman for the U.S. Coast Guard, had been watching the ship’s generators and switchboard in the middle of the night. As he walked by one generator, it suddenly erupted.
