Season ends with playoff loss to Elbert County

A 24-7 loss to Elbert County in the first round of the Class A Division I playoffs Friday night ended the Patriots’ hopes of a postseason run. But for the nine seniors who endured the heartache of an 0-10 season in 2024, this year’s playoff appearance felt like retribution.

Key players back as football team starts spring practices

The Oglethorpe County football team has started spring practice, which consists of 10 practices in roughly two weeks.

Track teams shoot for state this spring

Ke’Mauri Brown has new goals this year after advancing to the state track meet as a sophomore. “(I want to) really try to PR (personal record) in long jump and help the team out as much as I can this year,” Brown said.

Patriots ride high at 1-0

Mike Holland said it had been a while since the Patriots had won a home opener.   Last Friday, his team did it.   Oglethorpe County defeated East Jackson 16-7 in front of an excited home crowd. Holland said the Patriots kept a steady head afterward, showing development from last season.

Holland looks to build on his first football season

The Oglethorpe County football team, under first-year head coach Mike Holland,  concluded its season with a 24-7 loss against Westside-Augusta on Friday to finish 3-7 and 3-4 in Region 4-AA. They finished fifth in the final 4-AA standings, falling just short of the playoffs.
