BOE rescinds director approval

Former District 1 Board of Education member Collin Cherry will no longer be the incoming director of transportation for the Oglethorpe County School System.   The Board of Education approved withdrawing the recommendation to hire Cherry at its June 13 meeting.

Voters, parties gear up for Senate runoff

Election season is dying down, but there’s one loose end in Georgia.    The Senate race between Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker heads to the runoff on Dec. 6. Since neither candidate received 50% of the vote in the general election on Nov.

County early voting behind usual pace

Although early voting numbers across Georgia have risen by 34% since the last midterm, Oglethorpe County has seen a decrease in early voter turnout this year.    Oglethorpe County has 11,309 eligible voters; 2,852 have voted early, a turnout of 25%.
