VIDEO: King overcomes health issues to win crown

In December 2021, Kamryn King, a senior at Oglethorpe County High School, faced a sudden onset of impairments which she ultimately used to share a powerful message with her community. Mysathenia gravis, a neuromuscular disorder which causes weakness in skeletal muscles, caused her to struggle with swallowing and speech, among other things. King went on to compete and win the 2022 Miss Oglethorpe Pageant, making a public declaration on stage that she is an overcomer.
