Levi Taylor achieves lifelong passion announcing for the OCHS football program. Taylor, a pastor at Mt. Pleasant Community Church, is the voice of Friday night football in Oglethorpe County.

OCHS cross country underway with new head coach Ward
Despite never coaching the sport, newly appointed Oglethorpe County cross country coach Jessica Ward jumps into her new role. Ward attended her first meet on Aug. 20 and is hopeful about the team’s upcoming season.

Fireworks fill the sky at Oglethorpe County’s Fourth of July celebration at Bryan Park last week. Organizers said more than 2,000 people attended the sixth annual event.

OCHS Prom 2024
OCHS held their prom at Smithonia Farm in Colbert, Georgia on April 20 and it was the venue's third time hosting the school's prom. The event began at 8 p.m. and featured stylish outfits, dancing, senior walks and the crowning of prom king and queen, which went to seniors Jake Turner and Aariana Bell.
Oglethorpe County Primary School's Journey Through Time and Change
Oglethorpe County Primary School will be demolished after the completion of the new K-5 elementary school on Fairground Road. However, the building’s history will be preserved in the final construction of the new school and in the minds of its former students.
Paul Thiel, the school system’s director of operations, confirmed that bricks from the former OCPS will be used as pavers in the pavilion at the end of the fourth-grade wing of the new elementary school.
Driving by the Crawford mural
When entering the city of Crawford, drivers will pass a large mural on the outside of Crawford Pizza. According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, more than 11,000 vehicles pass the mural daily. The mural located at the entrance of Crawford reads, “It’s nice to have you in Crawford Georgia.” (Margaux Binder/The Oglethorpe Echo)
