The Arnoldsville Fire Department has joined with Tidal Wave Auto Spa to raise funds for the department through discounted car wash vouchers.
“We are doing this (fundraiser) to build our money back up for the money we’ve spent in the last two months,” Chief Heath Baker said.
Baker said the fire department had to purchase equipment for the new fire truck they received from grants in September. The fire department plans to host a ceremony to debut the truck on June 1 at the fire station.
During the ceremony, former station members who have died — Keith Hardman, Tim Faust and John Knack — will be honored. Either the new truck, new sign and flag pole at the station, or the new firefighter of the year award, will be dedicated to the men.
“It’s a way for us to show our appreciation for these three guys who did a lot for the department; we feel like they need something for their memory to live on by,” Baker said.
Usually $30, the car wash vouchers will be sold for $20 each, with the fire department and Tidal Wave splitting the funds for every car wash sold.
They have sold about seven car washes and aim to reach a goal of selling 100, which would raise $1,000 for the department. The vouchers will be available for purchase until July 31.
Advertising for the car washes has been directed on social media pages and flyers with QR codes posted around Arnoldsville. These vouchers can be redeemed at any Tidal Wave location across the U.S.
