Bobby G. Miller Jr. was elected president of Greater Georgia Printers at a recent stockholder’s meeting.

  

Miller has been with the company since 1975, serving as general manager for approximately 40 years. Ralph B. Maxwell, the company’s former president, died on May 7, after serving in that capacity for 25 years.

 

“I was, and am, certainly saddened by the death of Ralph,” Miller said. “He was a friend and is greatly missed.”

 

GGP, which is in Crawford, was formed in 1969 and serves customers throughout the Southeast.

 

Powell to host time for community feedback

 

Oglethorpe County Superintendent Phillip Powell will host the first Patriot Porch from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Oglethorpe County High School cafeteria.

 

He will be available to answer questions about the school system’s vision and answer questions. 

 

Coffee, doughnuts and pastries will be provided. 

 

Firefly Trail fall race series signups continue

 

Registration for the seventh annual Firefly Trail Race Series is open at runsignup.com/Race/GA/Winterville/FireflyTrailRaceSeries

 

The fall races are: Fleet Feet Five Miler at Dudley Park in Athens on Aug. 23, the Crawford Restoration Run 5K on Sept. 7 and the Union Point Jamboree Jog 5K, 10K or 10-mile run on Sept. 26. 

 

The winter/spring races are: Winterville 10K on Jan. 23, Trailblazer 5K on April 10 and the Maxeys 5K on May 15.

 

Fall race series registration ends at the Fleet Feet Five Miler on Aug. 23.

Free pet vaccine clinic set for Sept. 19

 

Planned PEThood will hold a free vaccine clinic for residents of Oglethorpe, Madison and Athens-Clarke counties from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at Pittard Park in Winterville.

 

There is a three-pet maximum per family to the first-come, first-serve event, which is capped at 200 total pets (cats and dogs).

 

The services and vaccines include rabies, distemper/parvo, FVRCP (cats), microchips and flea and tick prevention.
