LOCAL ROUNDUP: Community Day scheduled for Aug. 8

Oglethorpe County’s annual Community Day will be held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 at Oglethorpe County Middle School.

 

The event will feature free hot dogs and drinks, activities and games, community resources, touch a truck and a free tote from sponsors.

 

Phillip Powell, the new superintendent of Oglethorpe County School System, is scheduled to be there.

Campbell reelected to represent Oglethorpe

 

Elberton’s Richard D. Campbell was reelected to serve on the Board of Governors of the 56,000-member State Bar of Georgia. He was installed June 13.

 

Campbell will continue to serve in the Northern Judicial Circuit, Post 2 seat on the board, representing Elbert, Franklin, Hart, Madison and Oglethorpe counties. 

 

The Board of Governors is the 160-member policymaking authority of the State Bar, with representation from each of Georgia’s judicial circuits. 

 

Friends of Madison Co. Library seeks books

 

The Friends of the Madison County Library seeks book donations for its fundraising book sales held in March and September.

 

The books should be clean and can be in any genre or format (hardback, paperback, books on CD, etc.). The Madison County FOL particularly needs hardback fiction in good condition. 

 

All book donations can be delivered at the front desk of the Madison County Library (1315 Highway 98 West, Danielsville) during regular hours.
