The 11th annual MOAS Bark & Wine will be held from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 at Countryside Manor in Winterville.
The event, MOAS’ largest fundraiser, has been held in May in past years.
All proceeds will go to the shelter. Tickets are $60 in advance and $70 the day of the event.
The annual fundraiser will be catered by Carrabba’s.

Athens runner wins annual Maxeys 5K
Stephen Rockwell of Athens won the eighth annual Maxeys Model Mile 5K with a time of 19:53 on Saturday.
Shannon Arnold of Crawford finished third in 21:38, and Union Point’s Anna Sheridan was fourth overall and the top female finisher with a time of 22:10.
Lexington’s Drew Lamm (23:34) was seventh.
Rec department has football, cheer signups
Registration for Oglethorpe County Rec Department football and cheerleading for ages 6-11 closes June 11.
Participants must go to Oglethorpe County schools or live in Oglethorpe County.
Cost is $105. The age control date is Aug. 1, 2026.
The uniform fitting is June 8-11 for football and June 22-26 for cheer.

Winterville to hold creative property panel
Winterville will hold an intellectual property panel called “Protect Your Art” that will feature David Lowery, John Snyder, Michelle Gilzenrat Davis and hosted by Seth Hendershot at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 21 at the Marigold Auditorium.
The event is free, and drinks and snacks are provided.
OCMS to host race on June 27
A 2-mile race, which is part of the Fast Feet Summer Series, is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27 at the new cross country course at Oglethorpe County Middle School.
The top 10 males and top 10 females will receive medals.
