No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident that shut down Athens Road (U.S. 78) at Buddy Faust Road part of Monday afternoon.
A truck overturned and EMS arrived, but no one was transported to the hospital, 911 director Angela Jackson wrote in a text message.
The Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook that the road was clear at 3:53 p.m. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
Home total loss after morning fire
A home at 509 Stevens Grove Road was totally engulfed in flames by the time Oglethorpe County deputies and the fire departments arrived in the early morning hours of Feb. 10.
The call came in at 8:02 a.m. There were no injuries.
A caller to 911 said there was a “boom and the power went out and then the fire started,” 911 director Angela Jackson wrote in a text message.
Six people lived in the home and one person lived in a camper on the property.
Salem Fire & Rescue and five other departments responded to the fire, which took nearly four hours to put out.
No food bank truck at Thankful
Thankful Baptist Church (1218 Union Point Road, Stephens) will no longer have a food bank truck at the church.
