Local roundup: OCHS students schedule workday at Senior Center

Oglethorpe County High School agriculture and FFA students will host a workday to build garden boxes at the Senior Center, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5.

 

Adults are invited to volunteer that day. Tasks would include spreading mulch, preparing the garden boxes by lining the landscape fabric, filling the boxes with soil and planting seedlings.

 

The project should be completed by 5:30 p.m.

The project has been funded through a grant with the Rotary Club, co-sponsored by the OCHS Interact Club.

 

Maxeys Model Mile 
5K set for May 16

 

The eighth annual Maxeys Model Mile, a 5K race, is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16 in Maxeys. 

 

Race-day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. Race cost is $20 for no shirt and $25 with a shirt.

 

Awards are given to overall male/female, masters male/female, grandmasters male/female and male/female age groups: 10 and Under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over.
