Town and Country Kafe will be transformed into a Southern soul food restaurant called Wright’s Southern Cafe.
Willie Torres and his wife and co-owner Amy Delfin-Torres will step away from their restaurant, which opened in February 2024, but have plans to use the space next door for a new cafe and boutique.
The Torreses said their last day will be Saturday, Aug. 15. They are leasing restaurant space to the Wright family.
“We found it was time for us to give another family a chance to grow,” Willie Torres said. “We are passing the torch to another family. We are very grateful for Crawford and surrounding communities that gave us the opportunity to grow a Venezuelan restaurant from the ground up.”
After taking two months off, the couple will open their new cafe, which will serve coffee and pastries. Amy will also run a boutique inside the space.
“It's going to be similar to Town & Country,” Torres said. “It's going to be smaller, more compact.”
The Torreses also have plans to expand business to other buildings that surround the restaurant, which include a gazebo, four sheds and two other buildings to create an event venue setting. Torres said he will name it Moss’s Old Town, after a good friend.
“We’re going to create a small old town, and we’re dedicating it to a very good friend of ours,” Willie said.
Torres said that while he is ready to take a break, he is looking forward to this new partnership with Wright’s Southern Cafe.
“It's very hard, but we’ve enjoyed it,’ Torres said. “We never regretted it, but we found an opportunity to let another family come in and grow.”
Wright’s Southern Cafe is set to open the second week of September. The restaurant will serve a full Southern menu.
“This isn’t the end; it’s the start of something new, and we’re excited to share it with you soon,” the Torreses wrote in a social media post last week.
