Duck hunting season opens in Georgia on Saturday, Nov. 23, but youth ages 16 and younger, active military and veterans can hunt specific migratory birds, such as ducks, Canada geese and mergansers, on Nov. 16-17.

Youth must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older), but only the youth can hunt.

Duck season runs from Nov. 23-Dec. 1 and Dec. 7-Jan. 26. Migratory bird hunting regulations can be found at georgiawildlife.com/migratory-bird-info.

To hunt waterfowl in Georgia, hunters need a state hunting license, a state migratory bird license and the federal duck stamp.

The electronic Federal Duck Stamp, or e-stamp, is a legal seasonal license this year, according to the Georgia DNR.

Hunters can purchase the Waterfowl Hunter Package at gooutdoorsgeorgia.com, which includes licenses.
