WUGA, The Echo host community listening event

The Oglethorpe Echo, in partnership with WUGA, will host a community listening event from 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Oglethorpe County Library.

All interested residents are encouraged to attend.

“I’m hoping that there's a good turnout,” said Katie Tucker, a staff producer at WUGA, who also covered county government for The Oglethorpe Echo last fall. “But honestly, even if there's only a handful of people that come out and are willing to contribute a lot to the conversation, that's just as valuable.”

Community members will be encouraged to share issues, people, ideas and topics that they would like to see covered in Oglethorpe County in a small-group format. Refreshments will be served.

Leadership of The Echo and WUGA will be present to talk to residents and hear from them about what’s working, and isn’t working, in local news.

If any resident isn’t able to attend, they can submit story ideas or comments in The Echo’s library suggestion box throughout November.

“I'm just excited to hear from anybody that's willing to take time out of their day to share with people from WUGA and The Echo to make our coverage a little better,” Tucker said.
