Obituary: Betty Lou Callaway

Betty Lou Callaway, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025. She was 91.

 

Born in Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Joe Thomas Ginn and Velda Lee Whitsel Ginn. 

 

Betty was a devoted Christian and a faithful prayer warrior. She loved gospel music and attending church services both at Grove Chapel Church and Welcome Avenue Church. Betty was a woman of great strength and she will be remembered for her generous heart. 

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, George Neal Callaway Sr.; son George Neal Callaway, Jr.; great-grandson TJ Callaway and siblings Jody Ginn, Mildred Whitsel, Paul Ginn, Hal Ginn, Billy Ginn, Bobby Ginn, Roger Ginn and Larry Ginn.

 

Survivors include her children, June Parker (George), Loyd Callaway (Deborah), Tim Callaway (Hope), Joan Doster (Neal) and Jean Autry (Terry); sister Mary Anne Goldman; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025 at Lord and Stephens, Danielsville. Interment will follow in the Collier Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Littlefield, Jeremy Callaway, Travis Parker, Brandon Autry, Matt Doster and Chad Callaway. 

 

The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
