David Mark Williams

David Mark Williams, 60, husband of Susan Williams, died on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Born in Griffin, Georgia, he was the son of the late Buford Franklin Williams and Edith Jeannette Davis Williams, and brother to the late Tommy Williams.

 

Mark and Susan were married in 1990, and lived in the Stockbridge area for 20 years before moving to Arnoldsville in 2020. 

 

He received his bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1986 from the University of Georgia and was a member of Winterville United Methodist Church. He retired from UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) as the director of communications and previously also worked as the sports editor for the Union Recorder and Griffin Daily News.  

 

He served on the torch run public relations team for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He was a lover of the Georgia Bulldogs, all things music, gardening and the written word, which he expressed by publishing both a novel (“Brother to Brother”) and album (“Working Folks”).

 

Survivors in addition to his wife, Susan, include two children: Allie Williams and David (Melissa) Williams; brother, Terry (Elaine) Williams; granddaughter, Josie Williams; nephew, Shane (Amber) Williams and their children: Ella, Audrey and Miles, and his beloved miniature dachshund, Bailey. 

 

Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at Lord and Stephens East Chapel. Interment followed at Arnoldsville Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
