Dennis Norman Thomas
Dennis Norman Thomas, 79, of Comer, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Born Oct. 25, 1944 in Elbert County, Dennis was the son of the late Golden Asbury Thomas and a very devoted son to the late Maggie Anderson Thomas. Also, preceding him in death were his brothers, Kelly L. Thomas and Harold D. Thomas. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marsha Fortson Thomas, daughter Norma L. Dyer (David) of Winder, son David W. Thomas of Comer, grandchildren Jackson Dyer, Maggie Dyer, Leah Thomas, Anna Thomas and Cassie Thomas.
He is also survived by sister Sylvia E. Esco of Roswell, along with nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
Dennis was always known for his bountiful garden, especially tomatoes. He worked at Westinghouse/ABB/Power Partners. Dennis retired in 2006 with 39½ years of service. After graduating from Madison County High School, he was in the Army Reserves. He enjoyed anything to do with history.
Dennis enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Alaska, among many other places. He always looked forward to trips to the mountains in the fall for apples and Rocky Road candy.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Danielsville Memorial Gardens off Highway 98. Visitation at the cemetery will be from 10-11 a.m.
