It is with broken hearts that our family shares the passing of George Gabriel, 77, of Crawford. He went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025.
The son of Lois and JC Gabriel, George was retired from the University of Georgia. He worked hard all his life. He loved the Lord and was a member of Welcome Avenue Holiness Church. He enjoyed singing for His Lord.
Preceding him in death, beside his parents are a daughter, Mindy Gabriel, stepson, Steve Looney and three brothers, Dale Poulnott, Douglas and Rickey Gabriel.
George is survived by his wife Wilma; daughter Brooke Hull; son Bryan Gabriel (Mona); stepsons Michael Estes and Keith Looney, sisters Geneva Stamey (Oliver) and Teresa Yonce (David); brothers Doyle Gabriel, (Judy), Dan Gabriel (Chrystal) and Terry Gabriel (Heidi); sisters-in-law Susan Gabriel and Sam Gabriel and Vickie Long; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home East at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29 with visitation from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Allen Green and Kendall Callaway will preside over the services.
Oglethorpe County volunteer firefighters will serve as pallbearers.
