Hazel Arline Huff Mattox, 95, of Lexington, entered the Heavenly gates on Oct. 1, 2024, at her home.
She was born on Feb. 26, 1929 in the Palmetto Community of Oglethorpe County. She was the daughter of George Thomas Huff and Sara Lizzie Alberta Thomas Huff.
Hazel was a homemaker most of life and spent her time raising her three children: Billy Mattox, Mary Hall and Wayne Mattox. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, George Blanton Mattox; brothers: Herbert and Russell Huff; and sister, Opal Johnson.
She is survived by her children: Billy Mattox, Mary Hall (Eddy) and Wayne Mattox; granddaughter Audrey Hall; sister Rachel Baker (Jimmy); sisters-in-law Roosa Huff and Betty Jane Huff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 6-8 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Bruce officiating. Interment will follow in the Palmetto Christian Church Cemetery in Oglethorpe County.
Flowers are optional, donations in her memory may be made to Vesta Baptist Church Building Fund.
