Jerome (Jerry) Alexander

Jerome (Jerry) Alexander III passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. His strength and resilience through such a difficult journey was inspiring.

 

A lifelong Athens native, he was born on Jan. 11, 1961, and was the son of Joan Myers Alexander and the late Jerome Brantley Alexander, Jr. Jerry was a 1979 graduate of Clarke Central High School and attended Gainesville Junior College. He enjoyed life fully with his many interests, including fishing, hunting, camping, weightlifting, riding motorcycles, running his sawmill and building projects. He loved to make people laugh, sing karaoke and dance!

 

His heart for Christ impacted so many people. He was an incredible example of being God’s hands and feet. He was passionate about studying the Bible and encouraging others. His legacy of loving Christ and others will live on.

 

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include three daughters, Alexis Alexander, Lily Myers (Noah) and Daisy Alexander; one sister, Angie Tarkenton (Chuck); one grandson, Judah Myers and two nephews, Stephen and Chad Tarkenton.

 

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4 at Lord and Stephens, East. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
