Obituary: Kathy Alexander Kitchens

Kathy Alexander Kitchens of Commerce passed away on Wednesday, April 22 after suffering a brain injury in an accidental fall.

 

Kathy was born in Nicholson, Georgia, on May 26, 1951. She was the eldest daughter of the late Hooper and Viola Anderson Alexander. 

 

Kathy retired from Mayfield Dairies, where she worked as a laboratory technician. After leaving Mayfield, she enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, cooking and taking care of her beloved animals. 

 

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her only child, Rebecca Kitchens Wilbanks, and by a brother, Thomas J. Alexander.

 

Surviving family members include two sisters, Shirley Gabriel of Crawford and Patty Ward (William) of Cornelia.

 

A much-loved son-in-law, Lucas Wilbanks of Commerce also survives. Also left to mourn Kathy’s passing are nieces Michelle Minish Henneberger (Josiah), Mariena Alexander, and Flora Alexander; nephews J. Richard Gabriel, William “Trey” Ward and Todd Gabriel (Vicki). 

 

Kathy will also be greatly missed by her favorite grandniece, Nicole Rae Minish, along with several other grandnieces and grandnephews, and numerous cousins. 

 

The visitation with family members is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 29 at Lord & Stephens, Danielsville. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel.
