Obituary: Kenneth Leon Huffer

Kenneth Leon Huffer, 71, died at his home in Stephens on Nov. 27, 2025.

 

Born on Aug. 8, 1954, in Rocky Mount, Virginia, Kenneth grew up with his family in Madison County. He worked in production with Reliance and Noramco before entering private contracting, where he enjoyed building.

 

Kenneth lived a quiet life and spent many peaceful hours reading, watching historical documentaries, and gardening on the farm with his three dogs. He found comfort in the time he spent with his daughter and grandchildren.

 

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Brittany Higdon, and her spouse, Dylan; his three grandchildren, Eva, Eleanor, and Bentley Higdon; his sister, Faye Humphrey, and her husband, Charles; his brother, Bobby Hanley, and his wife, Amy; his nieces and nephews, Jonathan, Luke, Emma, and Joshua Hanley; and his maternal uncle, John Leonard Hodges.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Hodges Hanley, and his stepfather, Roy Lee Hanley.
