Montine Eberhart Hammond
Montine Eberhart Hammond, 98, of Arnoldsville passed away on Aug. 18, 2024. Born on May 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Ray Kiser and Gertrude Ward Kiser.
Montine was a faithful member of Arnoldsville Baptist Church and was a fervent prayer warrior. She was the past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Athens Chapter. She loved gardening and growing flowers.
She will be forever remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands William “Bill” Eberhart and Henry Lewis Hammond, and grandson Andy Eberhart.
Survivors include children Lynda Norman, Billy Eberhart (Sally), Debra Johnson, grandchildren Amy (Jonathan) Tolbert, Jason (Audrey) Norman, Will Eberhart (Sara), Stephane Ellen Eberhart, Nicholas Warner, Tricia Johnson, Danielle (Sean) Kiogima, Daniel Johnson (Katherine) and Laura (Adam) Kemp; six great-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and sisters Hazel Henderson and Syble Langley.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25 in the chapel of Lord & Stephens, East, with Nathan Palmer and Jonathan Tolbert officiating. The family will receive friends at 2 p.m., prior to the service beginning.
