Obituary: Randall C. Hicks

Randall C. Hicks, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 30. 

A proud graduate of the University of Georgia, class of 1961, 1963 and 1966, Randall dedicated his life to education, teaching mathematics for 31 years at Valdosta State and six years at Lake-Sumter Community College. 

He is survived by his wife of 64 years and the love of his life, Frankie Suttles Hicks. 

He also leaves behind his children David Hicks, Michael Hicks (Shannon Hicks) and his daughter Denakae Jenkins; his cherished grandchildren Erica “E” Cruz (Lance Cruz), Randall “Ran Ran” Hicks (Allison Hicks), Ann “L-Girl” Hicks, Tiffany “Tiff Tiff” Sirmans, (Jared Sirmans) and three great-grandchildren, Olivia Cruz, Michael G. Hicks and Sebastian Sirmans.

Randall was a dedicated community member who generously volunteered his time with multiple local organizations. His unwavering commitment and selflessness touched the lives of many. He worked tirelessly as a volunteer tutor, the joy of education remaining ever close to his heart. 

Randall’s legacy of kindness and service will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. April 4 at Lord & Stephens Funeral Homes, East. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Oglethorpe County Library.
