Sallyanne Busbee Crawford Barrow
Sallyanne Busbee Crawford Barrow, 70, passed away on July 5, 2025 from complications of glioblastoma.
She is predeceased by her mother Winifred Hazel Outzs Crawford, infant half-brother, father Harold Thomas Crawford, stepmother Dorothy Ruth Lindley Crawford and husband James Barrow Jr.
Sallyanne was born and raised in Augusta, where she attended local elementary, middle and high schools while participating in the St. John United Methodist’s Youth Group.
She graduated from North Georgia College in 1976 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a concentration in accounting and marketing. While at North Georgia, Sallyanne worked part time in the Office of the Commandant, as well as joining the Kappa Delta sorority, serving as its president during her senior year.
Sallyanne graduated from the University of Georgia in 1977 with a Master of Accounting.
In 1979, Sallyanne married her husband James, who she described as “a fun-loving, mischievous, wonderful man.”
A majority of her professional career was spent in the financial department of St. Mary’s Hospital, followed by the University of Georgia Alumni Association. She later started her own business, NE GA Financial Management Services.
Sallyanne prided herself on her sense of justice, integrity and ethics, regardless of the cost.
Sallyanne was involved with various community charities, including the Athens First Baptist Church, Athens Symphony, Extra Special People, Oconee Hill Cemetery, Historic Athens, Georgia Children’s Chorus and the Maxeys Woman’s Club.
She is survived by sons James Barrow and Samuel Pope Barrow.
A graveside funeral service will be open to the public in Augusta at Westover Memorial Park at 11:30 a.m. Saturday July 12, with a memorial service in Athens to follow in the coming month.
