Sampson (Sam) Christian, of Winterville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the age of 69.
Born on Sept. 11, 1955, to Willie Ray and Sara Christian of Colbert, Sam was preceded in death by his parents, brothers (David and Daniel), and sister (Belinda). Sam was a man with unwavering love for Jesus, his family, his friends and his church.
He shared 50 beautiful years of marriage with his sweetheart and best friend, Phyllis — a testament to a life rooted in love, commitment and his Christian faith.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis, sons Kevin (Brittany) and Eric (Marianne), and his beloved grandchildren Ethan, Noah, Ellianna, Jonas and Abrie, who all brought him immense joy and pride.
He is also survived by his sister Sherry (Dickie), brother Matthew (Jackie), brother-in-law Randy (Karen), numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who were blessed to know and love him, and his goldendoodle Maggie, who he adored.
Sam was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, a devoted deacon and a long-time member of Grove Chapel Congregational Holiness Church. His heart for mission work, particularly in Guatemala, touched countless lives and reflected his deep love for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping others.
Whether he was ministering abroad or serving in his church here at home, Sam lived each day as a reflection of God’s grace and goodness.
His legacy of faith, love and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 at Lord & Stephens East Funeral Homes, East, and a celebration of life will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3 at Grove Chapel Church with interment to follow.
