Sarah Mae “Goosie” Smith Seigler, 84, of Jones Ferry Road, Elberton, passed away at her home on Monday, May 5, 2025.
Seigler was born Dec. 20, 1940, in Lexington to Richard Herndon Smith Sr. and Mandy Margaret King Smith. She retired from the Elbert County School System, where she worked in the Elbert County Middle School cafeteria.
Her favorite pastime was watching the Hallmark Channel.
She is survived by her husband James Edwin Seigler; daughter: Misty Cook and Brett Shinall; brother: Doug and Rena Smith; sister: Deanie and Jimmy Wilhite; three grandchildren: Kyle and Lindsey Bailey, Andrew Bailey and Lydia Delph, Marty and Ashley Bailey; three great-grandchildren: Noah Bailey, Buck Bailey, Moli Bailey and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Alton Smith, Leo Smith and Richard “Bo” Smith.
Graveside memorial services celebrating Goosie’s life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18 at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
