Baseball sweeps Thomas Jefferson
Ryder Goodson went 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base to lead the Oglethorpe County baseball team to a 12-0, five-inning victory over Thomas Jefferson on March 27 in Louisville.
Eli Frost was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts in four shutout innings.
Mathew Martin had two hits and two RBIs, and Caleb Hall added two hits for the Patriots, who stole 11 bases in the game.
The Patriots completed the sweep by scoring a run in the bottom of the eighth for an 8-7 win on March 29 in Lexington.
Haiden Ashworth had two hits and three RBIs, Eli Ossick added two hits, and Goodson drove in two more runs.
Martin earned the win with 3⅔ innings of scoreless relief. He struck out six.
Basketball players earn state honors
Denim Goddard was named second-team all-Class A Division I by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Goddard led the Lady Patriots to a 23-3 this season.
Javaun Pittard was selected Honorable Mention for Class A Division I. He led the Patriots to a 20-8 record.
