Prep Roundup: Cross country teams advance to state

    The Oglethorpe County cross country teams had strong showings in the sectional to qualify for the Class A Division I state meet.

     

    The boys finished seventh and the girls were ninth at Lamar Murphy Park in Jefferson. They both advanced to the state meet on Friday at Carrollton High School. The boys will run at noon and the girls will run at 12:45 p.m.

     

    John Adams finished 10th overall with a personal record of 18:19 and Cory Tillman finished 19th with a PR of 18:46. Both advanced as individuals.

     

    The team includes Adams, Tillman, Luke Holbrooks, Ethan McLean, Rex Allen, Josiah Young and Peyton Duvall. The alternate is Dominic Piscitelli.

     

    Sydnie Henderson finished sixth overall in 20:51 and advanced individually.

     

    The team includes Henderson, Elin Turner, Margarita Rodriguez-Valdez, Flor Padilla, Prisiclla Salas Lopez, Evelyn Arvizu and Lurdes Hernandez-Boyzo.
