Kenzie Henderson scored 21 points, had 12 rebounds and blocked five shots to lead the Oglethorpe County girls basketball team to a 60-54 victory over Hart County on Monday night in Lexington.
The win avenged the Lady Patriots’ only loss this season. Hart County, which defeated OCHS 68-41 on Dec. 9, entered the game ranked No. 8 in the GHSA Class AAA ranking.
Amber Watkins scored 13 points and Denim Goddard added 11 points for the Lady Patriots, who are 7-1 and No. 5 in the GHSA Class A Division I ranking and fourth in the Score Atlanta top 10.
Aariana Bell scored eight points and had eight rebounds, and Elin Turner added seven points.
Goddard was honored after the game for surpassing 1,000 career points. She reached the milestone in the loss at Hart County.
Last Friday night, Goddard scored 18 points, had six rebounds and five assists to lead the Lady Patriots to a 58-40 win over Lake Oconee Academy.
Henderson added 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Bell finished with 11 points.
The Lady Patriots will play East Hall at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Commerce tournament. They’ll face North Hall at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
Pittard’s 22 points spark Patriots
Javaun Pittard had 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Oglethorpe County boys basketball team to a 53-45 victory over Hart County on Monday night.
Jaelin Lumpkin added nine points for the Patriots, who improved to 8-3.
The win capped a week in which the Patriots went 2-1.
They defeated George Walton 47-38 in the Sandy’s Spiel Shootout on Saturday, behind Pittard’s 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Cole Appling added eight points and Jake Turner had seven points and 10 rebounds.
On Friday, Pittard scored 19 points and had 12 rebounds in a 72-57 loss to Lakeview Academy in Gainesville. Jordan Johnson added 11 points.
Oglethorpe County plays in the Madison County tournament on Thursday and Friday.
