Nine Oglethorpe County wrestlers qualified for sectionals by placing in the top four of their weight classes at the area tournament at Commerce on Friday.

Walker Compton, Andrew Goller, Luke Holbrooks, Keyvon Gresham, Kendon Brown and Tanner Mckie finished second in their weight classes.

Damien Suarez and Aidan Dellinger were third and Keagan Moats was fourth to also qualify for sectionals.

Logan Bruce and Shoo Moo are sectional alternates.

OCHS wrestler Christian Harris missed the tournament with a virus, and likely will be out for the rest of the season, joining Paris Crowder and Ethan McClean, who are also out.

“I am very proud of this group and what they are accomplishing,” coach Steve Mason said. “It’s not easy on a team when you have three top wrestlers go down to injury and illness. Not having Paris Crowder, Ethan McClean and Christian Harris puts a huge dent in our lineup, but our kids have been resilient and have the next-man-up mentality.”

The sectionals will be held at Commerce on Saturday.
