The Oglethorpe County wrestling team went 8-1 to finish second at the 20-team Yellow Jacket Duals.

The Patriots defeated Brantley County, Jeff Davis, Effingham County, Screven County, Montgomery County, Lamar County, Vidalia and West Laurens. They lost to Ware County in the championship match.

Dylan Dunuway was 9-0 and Paris Crowder was 8-0 for the Patriots. September Htoo was 7-1 and Mathew Haney, Andrew Goller and Aidan Dellinger were each 7-2.

“Every single wrestler contributed to our success on the mats by competing, cheering and just being great teammates,” coach Steve Mason said. “We are finding our heart beat as a team and pulling together at the right time. Each time we step on the mat we are getting a little better. If we can get healthy and in the correct weight classes at the right time, this team can make their own mark.”

For the girls, Emily Gregory was first and Tristin Caldwell, Tessa Crosby, Cayla Hartrum and Alyson Woods each finished second.

For the JV, Keyvon Gresham, Ethan McClean and Ethan Bray finished first.
