James Jackson answers to many names.    There's his given name. And then there's "Captain." But most folks know him as "Junior."   And if it’s possible, his many jobs and passions outnumber his names.

Fire department gives $2,000 for trip to HOSA conference

Oglethorpe County High School students are going to the HOSA International Leadership Conference this summer, thanks in part to a $2,000 donation from the Beaverdam Volunteer Fire Department.

Deputies rescue man from Lexington house fire

A man and his dog were rescued from a burning home by Oglethorpe County deputies and transported for medical treatment on Dec. 5.    About 2:37 p.m., Sgt. Andrew Brooks arrived at 115 Upson Court in Lexington. He learned Jeffrey Shellnut, who uses a wheelchair, was in the burning home.
