Prep Roundup: Wrestlers finish sixth at state duals

  The Oglethorpe County wrestling team finished sixth at the Class A State meet last weekend at Heard County. The Patriots defeated McIntosh County Academy in the first round, but lost to Mount Pisgah 41-33 to drop to the consolation bracket.

Losing is not an option for Faust

The motto is tattooed on LT Faust’s right thigh: “Losing is not an option … win or learn.”    Faust has carried those words with him in life and his time in the Oglethorpe County High School wrestling program.

Prep roundup: Wrestling team wins four at Franklin County duals

The Oglethorpe County wrestling team went 4-1 in the Franklin County duals last Wednesday.    The Patriots defeated East Hall 72-10, Winder-Barrow 64-18, Franklin County 37-36 and Cherokee Bluff 56-21. West Oak, the defending South Carolina Class AAA state champion, defeated the Patriots 55-18.

Prep roundup: Pittard helps Pats open with victory

Javaun Pittard scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Oglethorpe County boys to a 65-62 season-opening victory over Upson-Lee in the Billy Wade Classic on Monday at Clarke Central.   Pittard also had seven steals, four assists and three blocks for the Patriots.

Wrestling team improves to 20-1

The Oglethorpe County wrestling team, ranked No. 1 in Class AA, won four matches in the fourth annual Doug Eberhardt Memorial duals on Saturday to move to 20-1 this season. The victories were: Oglethorpe County 64, Athens Christian 9 Oglethorpe County 45, Swainsboro 33 Oglethorpe County 52.

Wrestlers ready for yet another winning season

With several returning athletes and talented incoming freshmen, coach Tim Stoudenmire says this year’s Oglethorpe County’s wrestling team could be the school’s best group yet. That’s an impressive claim, considering the Patriots won the Class AA team dual championship last season.

Wrestling team sees Sunshine State success

The Oglethorpe County wrestling team had a road trip to remember.   The Patriots won 22 individual matches and lost 22 matches at the Knockout Christmas Classic in Kissimmee, Florida, on Monday and Tuesday.

OCHS wrestling travels to Florida

The Oglethorpe County wrestling team will compete in the Knockout Christmas Classic in Kissimmee, Florida, next week.    The 64-team competition is hosted by Osceola High School at the Silver Spurs Arena on Dec. 27-28.

Henderson double-double sparks Lady Pats' victory

Kenzie Henderson scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Oglethorpe County girls team to a 61-9 victory over Washington-Wilkes on Tuesday night.   Denim Goddard added 12 points, McKenzie Freeman had 10 points and Sofia Horsley scored nine as the Lady Patriots improved to 4-1.

Girls basketball team wins season-opening games

The Oglethorpe County girls basketball team improved to 2-0 with two victories last weekend.   On Friday, Kenzie Henderson had 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Lady Patriots to a 59-15 victory over West Hall.
