Students, seniors cultivate community through garden boxes

A muti-generational workday at the Oglethorpe County Senior Center Tuesday resulted in 10 raised garden boxes for visitors to use and enjoy.

Meet the Robinsons: Josh, Corie balance family, public service

Josh and Corie Robinson’s 13-year marriage began in an unlikely place.  “We met at an assisted living facility,” said Corie Robinson, director of the Oglethorpe County Senior Center. “I was working (there), and it’s (where) his grandfather lived.

Office dog Stetson brings happiness to senior center

Corie Robinson goes to work as director of the Oglethorpe County Senior Center every day, but she’s never alone. Whether Robinson is playing bingo or typing at her desk, a 10-month-old miniature dachshund named Stetson is near.

Hairy Dawg helps fire up seniors at center

The Oglethorpe County Senior Center has no shortage of Georgia Bulldogs fans — as Hairy Dawg himself can testify.  About 60 seniors showed out in a sea of red and black to celebrate the upcoming football season with a special tailgate party on Aug. 22.

Seniors build bonds during annual Valentine’s Day dance

The Oglethorpe County Senior Center provides a community for seniors, especially during days like Valentine’s Day.    For some, it’s an opportunity to not be alone during a time of celebration.
