Oglethorpe County Library implements new assistive hearing technology

The Oglethorpe County Library is now offering new assistive hearing technology through the installation of a Listen EVERYWHERE hearing loop, making events and presentations more accessible to those who may experience difficulty hearing.

Users can connect their hearing aids to the smart lanyards, or wirelessly through the app, and are able to hear an amplified audio of what is playing through the speakers in the meeting room.

Watch Nicole Hensley, the young adult program specialist at the Oglethorpe County Library, demonstrate how the new assistive hearing technology works.

Leading all the crocheters is a time-consuming job. It requires answering phone calls, organizing meetings, supporting members and planning events like the annual taco party on Cinco de Mayo. She volunteers time and money. Everything is donated; they don’t receive any help from the church, and when they have to buy something, the group votes on it.

“I’m still overwhelmed with the response that has come and how much it has grown,” Sanders said. “It sometimes surprises me.”
