WATCH: Oglethorpe County 4-H program teaches kitchen skills to children

Cooking to Share, run by the Oglethorpe County 4-H Club, allows fifth- and sixth-grade students to cook a meal for a family in need. Held monthly at the extension office in Crawford, approximately 25 students work alongside volunteers to practice their cooking skills, knowing their work will benefit a family in the county.

WATCH: Oglethorpe County beats Social Circle, will host area title

Madi Kelley had nine aces, seven digs and six kills to lead the Oglethorpe County volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Social Circle on Tuesday and into the area championship match.

 

The Patriots will host Aquinas in the area title match at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6. The winner will be the area champion and the runner-up will be the No. 2 seed for the state tournament.

 

Lake Oconee Academy and Social Circle will play at 5 p.m. Thursday to determine the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds.

WATCH: County residents are lining up for new dance class

 

The Oglethorpe County Recreation Department began hosting a line dancing class in an effort to provide more community engagement activities to the public. Dancers participate in basic line routines like the "Cupid Shuffle" and the "Electric Slide" before moving on to more traditional line dances. No cowboy hats, boots or coveralls are necessary at this laidback dance class, which takes place on Tuesday mornings from 9 to 10 a.m.
