The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Glenn Daniel Plybon, 60, in his Carlton home on March 18 in connection with a serial rape investigation dating to 1986 in Lawrenceville.
Plybon is being held without bond at Gwinnett County Jail. He was living in the Veribest community, Oglethorpe County Sheriff David Gabriel wrote in a text.
He was charged with three counts of rape related to a series of assaults in the summer of 1986. During that time, multiple women reported being sexually assaulted in their apartments.
Investigators found connections between the cases, but the suspect remained at large.
The GBI Cold Case Unit and the Lawrenceville Police Department used a CODIS Forensic Match in June 2025 to link DNA from multiple crime scenes to the same offender.
They then partnered with Othram, a forensic lab in Texas, to conduct genome sequencing to build a genealogical profile that identified Plybon as the suspect.
The GBI credited Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office with its assistance in the investigation and arrest, which was also done in partnership with the Lawrenceville Police Department.
Authorities said the investigation remains active and ongoing, and they encourage anyone with information to contact the GBI Office of Special Investigations at 404-239-2106.
