The Oglethorpe Echo
The Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter (MOAS) has received a $36,000 grant from the Banfield Foundation to provide spay and neuter services for 600 animals whose owners face financial hardship.
“We are so excited to receive this grant from the Banfield Pet Foundation," said Shaina Knight, grant writer for MOAS. “This funding will allow us to make a significant impact, providing much-needed spay and neuter services to pet owners who may not otherwise be able to afford it.”
The grant also provides free vaccines for the animals.
To qualify, pet owners must have an annual household income of $35,000 or less and show proof of residency in either Madison or Oglethorpe counties (valid photo ID, utility bill, lease or vehicle registration).
