CASA forms program to help children
The Northern Judicial Circuit’s Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) has formed a program to focus on advocating for children experiencing foster care in Elbert, Hart, Franklin, Madison and Oglethorpe counties.
This program will utilize several staff members and volunteers who worked with the former Northeast Georgia CASA to support children during the past 15 years.
Executive director Stacie Johnson and advocacy coordinators Kari LeBarron and Dana Weems will work with 39 current volunteers with various years of experience.
More than 84 local children are in need of volunteers.
CASA is recruiting and training volunteers to become a child’s voice in court and making recommendations in the best interest of the child. Children with a CASA volunteer have better outcomes, spend less time in care and receive services more quickly.
