A love for fitness and food has transformed from a hobby to a livelihood for Colbert residents Spencer and Whitney Gomez, founders of MVMNT Meals, a health-forward meal plan business.
Using Spencer's knowledge in nutrition and catering for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United, the duo has brought nutrition fit for pro athletes to Oglethorpe County.
“He started asking around if people would be interested in individually prepped meals,” Whitney said. “We got some interest, we started doing it for them, and it kind of just spread.”
MVMNT’s website (mvmntmeals.com) has a variety of options. The meals aren’t customizable per ingredient, but are cooked fresh every week.
“They’re very high in protein,” Whitney said. “All real ingredients. Nothing is ever frozen.”
MVMNT’s kitchen is on Athens Road, but the owners have partnered with local gyms and the Oglethorpe County School System to provide places where customers can pick up their meals.
There are eight pickup locations: The two in Oglethorpe County are Cronic Fitness (718 Athens Road, Lexington) and Oglethorpe County Schools (735 Athens Road, Lexington). Customers also have the option of home delivery.
“We call them pickup partners,” Whitney said. “We are mostly in gyms and Supreme Nutrition.”
Although the meals are marketed primarily to fitness centers, MVMNT meals can be utilized by anyone, Whitney said.
“A lot of times we have busy professionals and families, as well,” she said. “There’s a lot of people who are in post-partum who love our meals because they’re easy, they’re getting good nutrition.”
The business plans to implement a “grab and go” system at pickup locations, as well as expand into markets outside of fitness centers.
“I think a lot of people are afraid to try it because they don’t want to commit to something,” Whitney said. “We keep it very easy and low commitment, because people’s lives are always changing.”
