The weeklong Georgia primitive weapons deer season begins Saturday, Oct. 12.
Hunters can use archery equipment, air bows, muzzleloading shotguns (20 gauge and larger), air rifles and muzzleloading firearms that are .30 caliber or larger during the primitive weapons season.
Scopes and other optical sighting devices are legal for muzzleloading firearms and archery equipment.
Deer season with regular firearms opens Saturday, Oct. 19 and runs through Jan. 12.
Hunters can harvest up to 10 antlerless deer and no more than two antlered deer (with one of the two antlered deer having a minimum of four points, one inch or longer, on one side of the antlers or a minimum 15-inch outside antler spread).
All harvested deer must be reported through Georgia Game Check within 24 hours. Deer can be reported on the Outdoors GA app (which works regardless of cell service), at GoOutdoorsGeorgia.com, or by calling 800-366-2661.
Lexington’s Lovin in junior Angus group
Lexington’s Kate Rae Lovin has been selected as a junior member of the American Angus Association, the organization stated in a release.
Junior members are eligible to register cattle in the American Angus Association, participate in programs conducted by the National Junior Angus Association and take part in association-sponsored shows and other national and regional events.
