    The seventh annual Maxeys Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 6 included float awards for taking part in the parade festivities. The Gormans won the award for best float. The Oglethorpe County Transportation Department was second with “The Polar Express.” The Best Group went to Oglethorpe County Recreation Department Starlet Twirlers. The Best Vehicle award went to Pops Deer Processing with a decorated 1950 Chevrolet truck and the Best Animal went to Alliance of Therapy Dogs. The judges were Catherine Bowen Drewry, co-chair of Community Christmas, Nan Demsky, a Maxeys resident and artist, and Emily Williams from the Oglethorpe County Extension Office.
