Williamson Sintyl devotes much of his time helping the younger generation of Oglethorpe County to become its best.
With that as his focus, Sintyl will host the Reaching Your PEAK camp for ages 12-18 from 9-11 a.m. July 8-12 at the Lexington Community Center. To apply for the camp, go through the organization’s website at www.peakcorp.co. The cost is $25.
“My job is to help empower the rising generation, the young people,” he said. “Because I truly believe that in order for us to build a better future, we must work with the young, rising generation.”
Sintyl said he plans to bring in community leaders and business owners to provide life skills and inspire teenagers to “discover who they are.”
“I want parents to know that this camp, it’s a life-changing experience for the rising generation in our community,” he said.
Sintyl said he finds that the younger generation stays at home indulging in negative, unproductive lifestyles. He hopes that through life coaching, this summer camp can help “prevent them from that dark place.”
“Reaching your peak, it’s a message to tell parents that the purpose of the camp is to inspire your teenager to reach their full potential, to reach their purpose,” Sintyl said.
Guest speakers include Abby Horton, a rising senior at OCHS.
Horton recently founded Oglethorpe Gives Back, an organization dedicated to recognizing the “secret heroes” of Oglethorpe County. Sintyl helped coach Horton on how to turn her idea into a reality.
“He has helped me so much,” she said. “I would not be able to do this without him.”
Sintyl has 10 years of experience as a certified life coach. Before earning a degree in International Studies at Utah State University, he mentored youth in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Ivory Coast and Kenya.
“This is my calling in life,” Sintyl said.
Sintyl also serves as chairman of the Oglethorpe County Chamber of Commerce and recently ran for the District 2 seat on the Oglethorpe County Board of Commissioners. He lost to incumbent Andy Saxon in last month’s general primary.
“I’m someone who’s passionate about making his community better,” he said.
