Organizers hope race series will boost running in Oglethorpe

Runners line up at the start line at the Winterville Civitan Snowflake 10k on Jan. 29. There were 185 in-person participants in the race, which is the first race in the Firefly Trail Race Series. Kevin Burke of Athens was the overall winner of the Winterville Civitan Snowflake 10k on Jan. 29, with a time of 36:17.6 for a pace of 5:51. Chris McCann of Waltham, Massachusetts, finished second (36:36.1) and Kaylee Slade of Winterville finished third overall (first female) with a time of 36:45.4. (Mackenzie Tanner/The Oglethorpe Echo)
